Leadership Up Close #2

There are 5 generations in the workplace today:

  • Traditionalists—born before 1946
  • Baby Boomers—born between 1946 and 1964
  • Generation X—born between 1965 and 1976
  • Generation Y or Millennials—born between 1977 and 1997
  • Generation Z—born after 1997

Do ‘the 5’ work side by side at your workplace as naturally as the blooms grow on this gladiolus?

Executive Coaching, Multi-generational
Unlike most organisational hierarchies, the gladiolus do it differently. The Gen Z buds are at the top and the older Traditionalists blooms are at the bottom.

Interesting. Perhaps there’s something in that.

At the very least, it reminds us to be mindful of one of the greatest sources of intergenerational conflict…unconscious intergenerational biases.
