Finding Clarity in Leadership

Senior Manager, Not-for-profit, Brisbane, Australia

How a senior manager clarified her leadership approach, rebuilt confidence, and improved a strained working relationship.

I’ve sat there before in work meetings feeling inadequate, thinking ‘everyone knows what they’re talking about except me’. And I’ve done a couple of management and leadership courses, but they’re very theoretical.

Michelle unpacks the issues in very simple ways. The course far exceeded what I was looking to get. The tools Michelle shares are just amazing, and it’s been so beneficial in helping me move forward.

The Challenge

This client is a senior manager in a large not-for-profit community organisation that helps thousands of clients each year. Most of her management and leadership techniques were self-taught.

She’d been feeling that there was a gap in her knowledge for a while. But she wasn’t sure what she was missing, and never had time to look around and figure it out. That was until she started clashing with her boss and she felt her job was becoming untenable.

Everything she suggested at work seemed to be shot down in flames. Progress felt impossible. She couldn’t figure out what contributed most to the issue. She considered leaving but was stuck thinking about what might come next. That’s when she contacted Michelle.

The Solution

A targeted leadership development program focused on judgment, communication and practical leadership capability.

The Results

She found the leadership clarity she was looking for. Instead of feeling stuck and unsure about her next steps, she’s now really enthusiastic about making time to uncover and overcome the issues that were holding her back.

She’s using the course materials in her job and sharing the tools and new insights to help others. Her relationship with her boss has also improved. She has no intention of going anywhere and can’t wait to take her learning even further.
